Apple Updates MacBook

Apple today updated its MacBook Pro line of
notebooks with the new Intel Santa Rosa chipset. The
new MacBook Pros features speeds of 2.2 and 2.4 GHz
Core 2 Duos, 4MB of shared L2 cache, an 800 MHz
frontside bus, 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (upgradable to
4GB) and the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT. The new 15-inch
models feature a mercury-free, power-efficient
LED-backlit display while the 17-inch model has an
optional 1920-by-1200 high-resolution display. Apple
claims these machines are more than 50 percent faster
than the original MacBook Pro Core Duo.
The MacBook Pros are available today in three
standard configurations:
15" 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 120GB HD, LED display
GeForce 8600M GT 128MB - $1999
15" 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, LED display
GeForce 8600M GT 256MB - $2499
17" 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo. 2GB RAM, 160GB HD, GeForce
8600M GT 256MB - $2799
